Thanks, guys
I hope it proves helpful though I know Luke has been able to put the technique to good use. I have made some progress on the Slave-1. I've been weathering the undercarriage of the model to look grimy and dirty enough to live in the SW Universe.
In the following pic, I have one weathered and the other simply with the base coats of Vallejo Natural Steel with accents of Brass. I've been using AK interactive's Engine Grime and Soot powder to add the dirt.

Same for the under carriage

An additional layer of Vallejo Smoke was added to enhance the dirty look of the parts.

 More on this one later

Wow, talk about a major difference. Thanks once again for the particulars and back on the front page.

I am hoping if we can get a painting roundtable going that perhaps we could get you to talk about a few of these techniques.

Tamer, I would love to take part in that round table.. I had thought about trying out for a spot on the CAFN podcast, but I figured I wasn't part of the target audience since I haven't been working on any figures or vehicles.

I have a few more pics to share of the dry fit with all of the lights on.

What! Guy, you are perfect for a CAFN Podcast. We would definitely love to include you in the painting roundtable, but please think about doing just a regular interview too.

CAFN is about all things custom. Anything is fair game.

Love the lighting by the way, back to the fp with you.

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

I have hit the home stretch with my Slave-1. I have a few more tiny details to tweak out, but this one is almost done. Things are certainly building up in this contest and the competition is going to be the heaviest I have ever been in. I'm not sure how voting works, but I could use all the votes that I can once the contest actually begins.
Anyway, here are the latest pics I have of the build.

I will one more round of pics that I won't post on any other forum till after the contest.
