Thanks tamer!  I've had more time this week to really spend on working on my hobbies...  And I do feel like I'm on a good run.

Clonesniper, I think your right. I've been taking more time with my painting, slowing it down and really concentrating and it's turning out a ton better!  I'm also fine-tuning my drybrushing techniques.  The RA figures really helped me work on that.  There's a lot of drybrushing going on with them.

Like I said, the next tutorial will be a shadow scout and the slightly different process with that style figure.  I'm thinking about doing a "speed tutorial"... I don't want it to be another 45 minute long 10 part tutorial like the GM was!  lol... and I want to time myself to see how quickly I can out together the figure... just cuz.

Here's another non star wars figure...

A friend of mine collects and customizes transformer figures.  And a while back we had a conversation about gi-joe transformer cross-overs when he informed me that cobra commander was in fact in an episode of transformers...  I had heard of this, and until recently had forgotten about it.  I looked it up and actually wound up watching the (horrible) episode on youtube...

found here:

wiki article on the episode provided screen shot:

my figure interpretation:

in the episode "old snake" doesn't have any visible weapons... but while I was looking through reference photos I found several previously made customs of the figures using a similar recipe to what I decided upon and I liked the look of the storm shaddow trench coat bottom.  It worked well with destro's torso.

I (luckilly) had ONE ROC destro in my fodder box... and once I located all the pieces I started putting him together.  I had plenty of other parts to choose from, and it was as simple as putting a CC's legs (no paint needed) and finding the correct arms.  The arms I decided on were paris persuit snake eyes'.  They had the perfect trenchcoat look (as that's the way they were made to look!).

I repainted the figure best I could to match the cartoon images...

but to me it wasn't really saying Cobra Commander... so I gave him his signature sword hanging from his belt.  I know it's not seen in the toon, but I figure oh well.

OH, and the hat is a modified cad bane hat.  I just trimmed the brim into a circle and cut the little notch in the front out to match the "floppy hat" look of "old snake's".

"They just don't make terrorists like they used to."

Vividly remember this episode, kind of gave me a chuckle back in the day, still does (I have it on DVD).  Chris Latta (whov voiced the Commander as well as Starscream in the toon) will always be the voice of CC for me.  But I think if you approch the ep with a bit of a chuclle it becomes better, I do know he got off some funny one liners in the ep (THe afforementioned "They don't make terrorists like they used to." for instance).

That is a great interpretation of Old Snake though.  He looks really dead on and the additions just make him have that old school Cobra Commander look, awesome.

Updates Mon-Fri every week, also reviews and much much more.

I like this concept; very original!  Nice addition of the 'peg' leg too; very nicely done!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

These two look like they have had some fun on their travels! I love characters that tell a story, and these two have character by the truckload....

Well hell... facebook is being stupid.

My videos were finished for the next series of tutorial videos.

Hopefully, I can get them re-uploaded and linked to by tomorrow.

sorry for the misleading title change, no video yet.

Very cool smuggler team Devin. I think that lower leg missing the paint is a factory mistake.
