Boil-and-Popping a CW Clone Torso?
« on: December 04, 2011, 01:33:18 PM »
Do you guys have any advice for the above-listed topic?  I've never boil-and-popped anything, really, but I need the torso of an ARF Trooper atop the waist/legs of a Captain Rex fig.

Also, I'm thinking about swapping out Rex's legs for the ARF's; any advice there, too?  Thanks.

I would surely think there are a few folks who could shed light on this.

I haven't tried articulated torsos yet, personally.  I would assume you do it just like any other b&p job.  Dan, the main thing is to not force the separation.  You are better off - in my experience - leaving it in a little longer than in using a little more force.  I fish my figs out using salad tongs and hold them with doubled-up kitchen towels.  Oh - I do mine on a stove-top rather than in a microwave.  Don't like microwaves, don;t own one.

Thanks, Doc.  I found an older post by you, with instructions on how to actually go about doing it, so I'll try to follow those as close as possible.

I will be making a simple boil and pop tutorial for my face book page soon.  I've seen enough questions asked about it that I figure a tutorial video should be made to clear up any questions about the process... I know it sounds strait forward to those of us who've done it but it can seem intimidating to those who haven't.

Good idea, do we have a boil and pop thread in the resources section? If not, that would be an excellent place to put it.

Hey guys, in case you missed it on the front page, or if you have come back at a much later date looking for information on this technique here is a link to my face-book page that has my boil and pop video tutorial...  I know it's simple and straitforward, but enough people asked, and I was doing the process anyway for a figure I was working on that I went ahead and threw together a quick video.

if the link doesn't work click the link in my signature, like my page, and then find the video on there (you will have to be a member of face-book to "like" the page and to be notified of future updates)
