The pics are just test-shots for how the windows/wall panels work, btw. The lighting sucks, but with the panels printed just on typing paper, going outside for stronger light was out of the question. I can already identify some additions and improvements I need to make - the primary one being the addition of a second story for a wider picture. I'll be mounting the panels on foamcore, most likely. I highly recommend Jules' use of that full-sheet shipping label - printing them out on straight typing paper is just...ineffectual. I plan on getting some labels once I am satisfied with my wall design - more in a sec on that - and applying them to either foamcore or possibly to a "For Sale" sign (ie, sheet styrene).
Wall design - I found this as a texture option in my PrintMaster program we'd installed ages ago. I think its tiling is a bit too obvious. Would be nice if I can figure out how to add tiles to the texturing selections.
There are a number of details yet to be added - awnings over the windows, the front door (gaping white panel), a sidewalk, signage, and so forth. I'd like to back out a touch and add in a bit of a building corner, as well as an upper story that includes a balcony along the length. I think I'll nix the Troop Transport, as I think it is too tall and hides too much of the building behind it. A detail that struck me the other day while roaming home-improvement aisles... window weatherstripping. The stuff is available on self-adhesive rolls in a number of different profiles. I want one profile for running along the bottom of the wall to hide the seam between wall and ground and another profile running along the top of the first-floor wall, where the design changes from the bricks to ... whatever else I opt for.
