Oh yes, putting the costume together in parts is definitely the way to go if you have any hands on to you at all. That being said I did see this LAWS Suit and thought it was probably the definitive AT-AT Driver Suit out there. One day I will definitely be contacting this person to at least try to comission a bucket and armor.

On that note I want to make everyone aware of a company called Star Fortress Productions. Serg may know a bit more than me, but this company has a horrible reputation in the costume community. Like I said, I am not familiar with all the details, but I am sure anyone using this thread to try and complete their own costume will run across them so do your own research.

My advice is for 1:1 helmets (maybe except licensed MR/eFX ones where you can clearly see/know how they are) DO NOT go on ebay. Many helmets and armors on ebay are bad recasts made with poor materials, low quality and quite expensive considering how crappy they are. Also Star Fortress http://www.starfortressproductions.com/swempirestormtroopers.html, Stormtrooper-shop http://www.stormtroopershop.com/ or others are simply making poor quality overpriced stuff. Also in the licensed realm try to avoid Rubies Stormtrooper armor (example: http://www.ultimatestarwarscostumes.com/Supreme-Stormtrooper-Costume-p/r909866.htm) because it is very expensive and is crap, for its price you can get a very accurate one 501st approved plus extras.

Ok, I have an update for this. First off I finally got a hold of Cal and Kathy (his wife) and they were more than happy to fix the damages and issues I am having. They were even kind enough to pay to ship all of these items back too. I am also in contact with Hyperdyne Labs which is associated with their creation site (farawaycreations.com) and will probably end up getting a second chest box with their electronics attached. Speaking of electronics I also have the LED System coming that JKNO has installed in his box. I will give the contact info for that person as soon as I recieve this and get it installed. One nice thing is this person also installed it through the hole in the MonCal chest box so he said it is tricky, but can be done. I am looking forward to showing that here in a few weeks.

Ok, using the supplied MonCal kit I put together the comm chip on the left glove:

These gloves feel absolutely fantastic. Here is the link where I purchased said gloves:

http://www.leatherglovesonline.com/np/MensGloves-ByStyle-Leather-Gauntlets-td650hp-unlined-leather-motorcycle-gauntlets.htm#page=details

They are kinda pricey, but look for sales. I am also thinking about getting a set of heavier welding gloves with a second comm chip for colder days. If anyone has any links for those please pm me. I also wanted to give RPF a shout out as I have been using this thread as a great reference too:

http://www.therpf.com/f24/driver-costume-construction-6205/

I have never met Clutch, but this costume put together thread has been priceless. You can also see the big Driver Costume Creators in the form of MonCal and Laws in there too. I hightly recommend RPF for any costuming endeavor. Serg likes em too and I can see why.

So, full steam ahead, my harness is coming from a supplier in Argentina (looked awesome on ebay) and I will post pics of that when I get it too. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully I haven't bugged too many folks with my inquiries. I get sorta single minded when I am on a project. Thanks for everyone's opinions and assistance so far.

Good to hear replecements went fine. I have the same gloves, but in black for my TIE Fighter Pilot costume. RPF is great. I learned many things there and also bought many things from members on RPF.

I must admit I had fun putting this comm chip together today. I think it looks good. Almost wish I had kept the armor and put that all together, but hey if the experts will do it let em is my motto!

Another pice to the puzzle I see. Cool seeing exactly what that chip should look like.

I really hope there will be someone to make a more accurate comm pad.

I am with you there Serg. Mine is pretty close, but seems just a bit large. Good enough for 501st I have been told.

That colm thing on the comm pad is not very accurate alas. That is why I'm still looking for better options out there

It should look more like this:

I have an idea on how this might be done. I will get back with pics if it does work out.
