Cheers Tamer...
I've noticed that it's a bit quiet on the creative engineering front, so I thought I'd add some more images that could hopefully inspire.
I have to thank Doc Outlands again as his work with Polityrene gave me the idea for this set, it's amazing what you can do with bits and pieces you find lying around, and the best thing is that it takes hardly any time at all to put together an interesting diorama.
The only new pieces I needed for this diorama were the 2 sections of polistyrene which I sealed with an acrylic lacquer and painted with an airbrush. The bar is a long girder piece I made up as a set filler, there is another filler piece and the floor which I use for loads of other sets, which also used to be the Death Star floor from an old diorama. I printed off some decals using textures I'd created previously and stuck them to the Polistyrene pieces, this adds to the depth of field when photographing a scene.
Using close up camera techniques blurs out the background, hiding any imperfections, leaving suggestions of what lies beyond the focal point.
Here are some more images of the set.
