What's interesting is that your modified cockpit now makes this look a lot like the prototype version! Awesome work!

Jason

I've never seen that before, that is awesome! Does the original model exist somewhere in someone's collection? I would love to build that but it is definitely beyond my current capabilities.

Love the look of the ATAP mash-up!

I think you could start on the old prototype's cockpit with a couple of cruise-missile trooper toys and buildup from there.

Just a small update. The AT-AP cockpit has a lot of "holes" to fill from the various ordinance that came off. I bashed a laser cannon for the top mount, and added a Robotix bit for a searchlight on the very front. I'm still thinking on how to proceed with the detailing, trying to bring the model together by sharing and creating the details from part to part.

Wow, I like it. This has such a new vintage feel to it. If that makes any sense.

No, i like that term, "new-Vintage". there are a lot of vehicles in the vintage line that weren't in the movies, mini-Rigs and such, that really define the Star Wars look to me, more so than an X-Wing or the Falcon, even. The Transport is a big one, it was such a unique "brick" of a vehicle and by today's standards it is unmistakably a "vintage" toy. Another one I look at that way is the CAP-2, and I have plans for an update to that soon, as well. All the mini-rigs, really, kept that same style, simplicity and function of the vintage line but are still immediately identifiable as Star Wars of any era.

I had to promote this on the new Classic SW Community Page on Facebook and actually used it to introduce ISY and customizing to those folks I like this so much.

I saw that, thank you! I just filled in the back tonight, got rid of the loading ramp (it is one of my favorite features, but once the turret is in, i can't get anything in the back of it anyway) and added some styrene, a bulked out back and some thrusters. I'll get some pics when I get a few more things done. My intention was to paint this up in a "Gree"-like color palette of different greens and some light camo for the 41st Elites, but all this vintage talk has me thinking about keeping it gray.

This will be my last "build and bash" update before I finally clean and paint this. Unfortunately I don't know for sure when i will be doing that, since the weather in my area has been so uncooperative for spraying. I tried to replicate some details on the main body from the far more detailed AT-AP cockpit, and create some shared detailed to bring everything together. I also added a new back that will be bolted on to keep all the assembly functional during painting.

I stacked some styrene bits for depth and bashed in a lot of zoids and model tank bits for details. I may add some more equipment, like the ax stowed on the side of one of the trooper cups.

I'm still leaning towards the multi green and camo look, but I'm not totally sure yet. Unless the weather hits 50+ for a few days, it will be a while before i spray it anyway.

Wreckage, you need to be proud of this one. I think it is one of the best vehicle mods I have seen and I have seen a few. Back to the front page.
