Bubba Fett's Custom Figures
« on: March 02, 2013, 09:31:28 AM »
This is basically all Jessica. All I did was modify R2-D2's dome to allow the saber to move up and down as it rotated. First she had to take our original figures to stores to find a close match. Then she took a 1977 C-3PO and 1977 R2-D2, primed, airbrushed and hand painted them. We looked online for Droids R2 decals but couldn't find scans or repros that were acceptable. Most repros were a single decal. Our original is 2 decals that overlap in the rear. So, we spent hours designing our own. I know it is not as complex as most on the site, but we are learning.   Improvement Ideas, Tips and Hints welcome.    :)

Kudos on those two pieces. Im not sure if i have ever seen droids cartoon customs before. this warrants the front page as well but we might wait a day or so to allow the diorama story to soak in. I still find it unbelievable to think that could be the first one you ever built. Imagine in a year what they will look like...........

Sir, I can not honestly think of any way to improve this, unless you sculpted the two figures. Other than that, you nailed it. In customizing, your first attempt not only sent you to the head of the class, but you get to skip several grades and move up to another level many struggle to achieve. I realize you did something that you may consider easy, but you did it so well. Factory perfect from the pic. I've been doing customs and dioramas for nearly 20 years, and have been a fan for much longer, and actually have friends who make a professional living in sculpting/producing high end collectible toys, so trust me when I say.... This is really good. I whole heartedly appreciate your desire to learn. When you move on to more difficult things, there are several here that can help you, in whatever direction you choose, but concerning this project... It could not be better. I like the photography, the paintwork and the decal. I apologize for my blather.
Cooking a steak may seem simple, but this is like having a steak you'll always remember. Absolutely perfect.

Thanks for taking the time to look at our droids. And thanks for all the kind words. We will be spending alot of time here looking at all your "how to" videos so we can learn from the pros. And as always, tips and hints are welcome for any of our projects.

Jessica decided to get humerous about Disney owning Star Wars. She took a POTF2 Mouse Droid and gave him the Disney make-over...lol. I'm pretty sure we will see this new version of the (Mickey) Mouse Droid in Episode VII.
