Dude Spuda, that is freakin awesome. Where did you get those missile pods. The canopy came out pretty good as well as the paint job. Great job all around.

Wow, that is great! I am slowly getting caught up from being on vacation, but had to get that video on the front page.

That's pretty radical. The armatures and claws are just too cool.

I found this old vintage hiss tank at a local thrift shop for 4.50!

only thing was that it's missing the turret on top and it was filthy as hell.

So... I cleaned it up and built it a new turret and gave it some extra firepower.

This piece of pipe ALMOST fit inside the opening in the back of the tank.  With a little dremeling it fit perfectly and formed the base for the new turret.

with some styrene and an old gun i found in a fodder box from an online auction I bought years ago i fleshed out the turret.

Well, here's what I finished up with. Keep in mind I haven't applied any decals.

Ran across something on Shapeways that makes me want to find an old scrapped HISS:

A *really* awesome-looking armored canopy!  Talk about giving it a totally new look!

That's awesome!  A transformer customizer friend of mine buys a lot of stuff from shapeways.  That canopy looks sweet.  I wish I'd known about it when putting this thing together.

Hey Spud, been trying to catch up on what I missed. Just wanted to say awesome work with the Action Fleet Assault Gunboat. I also noticed the front resembled an AF Shuttle. It came out flawlessly! Also liked the 2 seat Y-Wing, very nice.

I'm getting back into customizing. Slowly but surely..

Thanks, I knew you'd like that one.   I've been wanting to mess around with a few other action fleet customs but haven't gotten around to them.

I was playing tie fighter today and got in the mood to finally do a custom action fleet that I've had in my mind for a while.  I have two extra darth vader tie fighter's in my action fleet collection, both with missing parts...  One was the small version which came with the death star playset (missing the top hatch) and the other was a full size DV tie fighter but it was missing the hatch, engine cover, and part of the engine was broken off (I used it in the missile boat custom...)

I had the idea a while back to flip the vader wings around and then cut out a section of them to give it an interceptor like look... this reminded me of the tie-droid and I just went from there...

Tie droid concept:

my advanced tie/d

comparison to the larger darth vader's tie fighter and the interceptor:

I had to come up with something to cover the cockpit with, and since it's a droid fighter it didn't matter if it opened...  I found the chest plate of an old gi-joe B.A.T. and thought it would look cool in there.  With a lot of dremeling, test fitting, and more dremeling I finally got it in there.  It's not a perfect fit, and the head on view looks odd with the flat top of the cockpit ball... but I used what I had.

The cockpit glass was trimmed up using an exacto knife until just 4 of the ribs were left, then I painted the cockpit glass with clear red acrylic paint.

The laser effects are two green lightsaber blades.
