The Hasbro Figures that Never Were Customizing Contest
« on: April 14, 2013, 04:59:53 PM »

Hello Shipyarders! Today we bring you a new and very timely customizing event. Starting April 15th and running through Midnight May 19 we invite you to continue the Clone Wars Action Figure line by creating The Hasbro Figures that Never Were. This must be a new figure made for this event. Also if you have shown a work in progress figure anywhere on the web it is ineligible. It must be a character that was seen in the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. Your figure must be 3 3/4 inch scale and can be created in animated or realistic/Saga style. Make as many figures as you want but they will all be grouped under your name and we will vote for the winning artist rather than by a single figure. You must be a member here at the Shipyards to enter. We are asking for no more than 5 pictures per figure when you submit your entry. To maintain a level playing field, no photoshop manipulations please. You are allowed to set up a vehicle or other parts as background scenery. When voting we should only judge the figure/figures submitted. You can post WIP pics in this thread as well as completed pics. Then before the deadline is up you need to email 1 photo of your submission to tamer@imperialshipyards.net. If you make multiple figures it would be a group photo. That keeps the interest in this thread up and makes it easier to make that voting thread. So get going, there are TONS of figures that should have been brought to life in plastic form and it is our duty to let these figures see the light of day!

Want to know what you are competing for? A most excellent prize pack from our own CloneHead! At the end of the contest we will make a voting thread and registered site members will vote for there favorite artist. There will be one lucky winner that will be mailed the following perts pack.

What a great theme for a contest, Spry!
I will first announce that I will foot the shipping bill of the parts pack to the winner via first class mail anywhere in the world. I will ship it and send a simple tracking number to the winner and from then on its on you. Postal delivery services are fairly reliable worldwide but there are still hiccups sometimes.

I would also post this question to Mr Spry about the rules. Am I allowed to post a pic of my entry figure with a vehicle? I know the vehicle won't be judged as part of the contest but want to take that pic if I make the figure I  thinking of.

Yes you can Clint! Any vehicle or diorama will be considered the background scenery.

What a great tribute to David Filoni and crew and our small way of saying thank you for The Clone Wars and perhaps keep TCW out there as folks are trying to save it across the world wide web.

Also I would like to personally thank Clint for the great parts pack he donated for the prize, Jules for creating the wonderful graphics for this, and L.E. as always for organizing yet another great contest.

OK guys, to get everyone in the mood, I am going to start the show this WIP of Gregor. I am not eligible for the prize as this was posted here earlier. This is just for fun and to get in on the action. I started him months ago and other projects/commissions got in the way of finishing him. This is where I am at as of right now.

This is my first time posting pics on IS and boy am I excited! I visited this site frequently and was inspired to customize by Wraithnine and Lucasclones' awesome works! I was also "inspired" to customize by Hasbro's lack of quality figures at the end of TCW line. I really enjoyed the removable helmets which allowed you to see the character's face and was really ticked that they didn't make a Phase II removable helmet for some awesome characters! Hence, all but one of my customs are still waiting(probably in vain) for Phase II helmets!
