I was contacted by a friend on IG who saw Neca's "Spy" from the Team Fortress Two video game line.
She asked if I could possibly make a "Dapper Dear" out of the Body. I wasn't really sure how it was going to come out,
buy half way thorught the process he began to grow on me.  Now that the Dapper Deer is finished, I must admit that I am a little sad to see him go.

As with most of my animal customs the head was made by Schleich
This one was taken straight from the original deer...no cast.
I did end up sculpting the neck down a little more to have it transition into the body nicely,
and take away any strong cut marks that I made while cutting the head off the original body.
My wife was nice enough to knit a small scarf to add the finishing touch.

Until Next time...

My latest project has been testing my sculpting skills.
After three failed attempts I was able to get a Lego Jack Skelington to sumwhat resemble the character.
Here he is pre-cast, I'm hoping the clay will hold the detail.
If he survives the casting he will probably need some fine tuning. I'm thinking it will be a lot easier to do with the more solid Resin than the softer clay.
fingers crossed........

Thanks Tamer!  I was able to pull the mold, casts have been a little sporadic but I'm getting stuff to use!  I'll have to post pics this weekend when work slows down

The Final touches on Lego Jack Skelington was his Bat Bow-Tie.
I ended up casting the bow-tie on the same piece of plastic that I had sculpted it on.
Not the best detail but the thing is so small that it doesn't really need a whole lot.
All and all, I think it came out good enough for the scale.

Here is a final shot of the cast/painted head.
Not hyper-realistic, but I think it works for lego. (minus those horrid micro-bubbles in this particular cast  >:( )
It was a fun learning experience...preparing me for greater things to come.

I've wanted to do a Bio-Mechanical custom for a while now.
I had started this guy close to a year ago, but he lost direction and had to take a seat on the sidelines.
Looking at him last week I was re-inspired to jump back in. This is the finished product.

Initially starting this figure, the head was something I was unsure about.
After repainting this GI Joe Kwinn, and throwing a set of "Pod-Racing" Goggles on him, he began to take form.

For the legs, I grafted on some standard fuses that I found while walking around a hardware store.
This is what originally set me off on making the figure.
A couple spare computer parts and wire (compliments of the great Lucasclones) made for some nice embellishments.

After finishing the legs is where I ran into a creative roadblock and had to sit on him for a while.
The bare chest body with vest is what snowballed the inspiration to finishing.

Another detail of the mechanics of his legs.
I had originally fabricated wings for him out of old type-writer arms but that design hit the cutting-room floor.
The wings seemed to over-complicate him, and I wanted to keep the design minimal.

For scale, here he is in contrast to a 3-3/4" and 6" Trooper.
I knew he was going to be taller, but was still a bit surprised at his scale after the fuses were added.
Despite his vertical growth, he still stands fairly easily and maintains an acceptable amount of pose-ability.

The only thing that could make the design of the legs better is if they still looked that cool but had some kind of added play feature. I like the stilts idea just fine but if they lit up or had some spring action, heck even extended out further, that would kick it up a few notches.

Yeah, now that you mention it...some LED's shining up in there would have been a great addition! There's always next time I guess. Thanks for the feedback!

I love those legs!   What a great repurposing of random stuff.

What inspired the look?  It's like steampunk meets MotU.

Thanks!  A lot of inspiration drawn from the Steam-Punk/Cyber-Punk culture....with a touch of Circus Sideshow haha.
