Cockpit and dorsal/ventral glazing:

I airbrushed the inside of these parts with several layers of clear blue to hide the lack of interior detailing.

Engine Baffles:

The engine baffles are molded as one solid, continuous piece. I separated the individual baffles with a razor saw.

... but I was going to Toschi Station to pick up some power converters!

The Millennium Falcon's signature quad-barreled turrets are being replaced with a single, double-barreled dorsel turret.

Cockpit:

Unmodified, the exterior of the cockpit is devoid of any detail.

I scribed some panel lines and added a few styrene bits.

Splashcoat, you are clearly a master craftsman and seeing all of the painstaking effort you are making on this is really fantastic. I have set this thread to "Notification" as I'm really keen to see how this pans out.

These latest mods are looking very nice! Thanks for the primer shot, that is a great looking canvas to start with.

This build is awesome. It might be one of the most detailed mods of the Falcon I have seen. Off to share.

Thank you for posting this, i actually have this kit in my closet where it has been sitting for years, i plan on making some of the changes you initiated, i was surprised to see this build here, as i also belong to a site called Resin illuminati and this is the type of work that goes on there. Thanks for sharing

Looking great and the details are perfect and the flushed sensor mount really gives it a more slick look.

Thanks for the positve feedback, everyone. This build is a lot more fun than I thought it would be; the thought of making an accurate Falcon out of this kit was kind of daunting, but going in a different direction with it put me in a whole other headspace.

Next step: The primer coat always reveals a spot that need more work.

Now on to the best part, painting.
I started with a layer of pre-shading in all the recessed areas and as a base for the grimy exhaust vents on the rear of the hull.

I want to give this YT-1300 (still un-named) a slight blueish colour instead of Standard Star Wars Grey, I mixed a colour using 2/3 Tamiya Sky Grey and 1/3 Tamiya Light Blue. I used this to cover the entire airframe and then proceeded the Colour Modulation Technique. I lightened the base colour with a little more Sky Gray and a few drops of Pure White and applied this to the centre of all the panels and other raised areas. I then made a darker tint of the base colour by adding Tamiya Royal Blue; I airbrushed this mix into recessed and shadowed areas as well as a panel line or two.

I like how you are getting this away from the regular falcon builds and are switching things up to get us out of our comfort zones with this vehicle. Off to share. It looks stellar so far.

I like the use of the blues, i remember reading in one or more of the eu books that the port authorities were always threatining to impound the ship if  it werent painted, nice work, looks convincing
