I like it! I enjoyed reading through your steps here. Man, I have sure been there myself. It is looking good though. Off to the front page.

Someone's QA/QC on their resin-casting slipped, for sure.  Now, I know I'm my own worst critic, but good grief ... I think I would have turned that piece into part of a destroyed engine-room had it come out of one of my molds.  :P

Spook - glad you posted this here!  You are doing fantastic work!

I could patch that one but it would take some patience.
I agree with doc, I would never ship a piece looking like that

Well, you are probably gonna be driven nuts for a bit with those pinholes, but I think it looks great. I always caution folks who are going for pristine stuff (like I usually do too) that what we are creating many times is a much better facsimile of props than they had when they filmed. Your snout piece is probably better looking than some of the screen used props Scott.

I agree with some of the folks here that the caster of that should be embarrassed by even sending that to you, but once again I think it looks pretty daggone good. Off to share you latest on the front page.

I love the step by step process.  You are meticulous.

With regards to the snout piece/filter, is this helmet going to be displayed factory fresh or weathered?
In case of the later, wont that shoddy casting actually work out for you better?

We are always "our own worst critics". Tamer is right. I think we have this vision of what something from the movie should look like...and it's always perfect. But the allure of movie magic is the illusion. Because your never up close and what you see is seldom seen standing still for any period of time. But then, this does go both ways.  I recently went to the Star Wars exhibit that ended here where I live in the Bay Area. (CA) I was surprised by what I saw in detail, or lack of...in just about everything I saw.

These were the pics that I took. You might be surprised.
Anyhoot. I think what your doing is the most awesome work. If you feel you need to make more and give them away.....=)

Sharky I was thinking the same thing about the Probe Droid you posted. It seems to lack the detail of the much smaller (I am assuming) probe droid that SSC is making.

And I was kinda thinking along the same lines as Sjejke that having it buggered up a bit would be spot on for one that is weathered. I like the nice clean look too though. I still be if you compared your snout piece to one that was used by an on screen prop yours would probably still look better. I have read (wish I remembered where so I send you there) that the original props has a ton of different casts on them and many were pretty bad.
