Junkers Slave 1: part two.

bbfet I have 90 percent of the build done. I need to add a few small details and the canopy which will be framed in like the WW2 Junkers aircraft. I added some big freggin guns and finished adding the drop bombs. I think its starting to look cool, I'm a huge fan of dieselpunk art. bbfet

I can't upload captured pictures, but I can upload downloaded pictures. I don't know why.

  Thank you Tamer.
I got some of the framework done on the canopy. Its not the neatest thing in the world I had to use super glue because the clear adhesives wouldn't hold. I wanted some asymmetry in the window frames. WW2 aircraft canopy frames aren't always symmetrical. Once its painted it'll be pretty sweet.

The canopy looks really like a Junkers canopy.
I can't wait to see the finished WW2 Slave 1.

Many thanks again fellas. When I first developed the idea of the ww2 Slave , 3 years ago, I wasn't sure how to build the canopy, but as I developed my skills and building confidence I figured it out. I just used .02" X .03" styrene strips I had in my scratch box. I think it turned out fairly well, its one of those things, no do overs, what's done is done.

bbfet. The Junkers Slave 1 is more or less done. I'd like to do a display base for it, but I'd also like to start my next project. Anyway the paint scheme was difficult to imagine, but I think its pretty cool. bbfet

10/10 you could really see this a prototype that the Germans would have tried, awesome work mate.

Many thanks again! I'd like to build a B-17 Falcon, but I think I'll build the regular Falcon first. But its on the short list.

Thank you! These OT, even ep.7 ships and uniforms really are similar to their WW2 counterparts. Its pretty easy/fun to exaggerate the similarities, and make a cool mashup.

Ok - that is one killer ship! I love it. The style of the Slave I and the colors of the German military complex fit together really well, and I love all the little touches you added to make this model truly great.

Thank you Starchaser. There's more I wanted to do, but sometimes best to keep it simple.
So cool !
Thanks Sj! I've been planning this build for a while, its great to see it built.

D.A.K/AT-ACT Star Wars mashup.
« Reply #89 on: December 27, 2016, 05:38:19 PM »
[at1]   I broke down and bought the Revell 1/100 AT-ACT. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it, then it hit me. Build a Star Wars WW2 mashup. I figure a Deutsche Afrika Korps AT-ACT would be awesome. I have a fascination with the North African campaign, and Ive been wanting to build a DAK mashup. Scarif and certain parts of north africa have a similar terrain, and the DAK symbol is a palm tree, so it'll work great. Also the north african campaign was fought more in the supply lines than on the front lines, with sabotage and air raids, so either side could have benefited from a cargo walker.
Since the AT-ACT is 1/100, Ill use the Zvezda 1/100 panzer iv turret to replace the ones in the kit. But I need to heavily modify the head for it to all work and look right. Grind and replace all the armor plating on the sides. Then move the turrets back a centimeter, or so. Outside of that, it's just a matter of adding tank parts, paint and decals. I also have in the works a Scarif/DAK trooper.
Also I noticed you can kitbash the Revell AT-ACT with the MPC AT-AT, with a little cutting. If you swap the underbelly and drive system, but keep the legs, you get more accuracy and articulation. I won't do that with this, but a future project. [at1]
