Very impressive JD, you could actually see this in a SW movie.

I agree. I could so see this design in a Star Wars Movie. Great work JDeck. Off to share the latest. I could so see you adding an led or two to this too.

Thanks Ron! It took a long time to come up with a design, since there's no shipyards in any of the movies. I did find an early concept of a star destroyer dock, but that's about it.

Thanks Tamer! Unfortunately it's too late to add leds. Originally I had it so i could disassemble it, until I started adding the support beams and such. I'm tempted to make a part deux, with lighting. All I would need is another space 1999 Eagle kit.

Well I had been building the in construction Star Destroyer, but I wasn't thrilled with it. After a whole days work I've completely changed my mind on how im going to build the SD. So bare with me I'll have something soon.

Vintage Death Star Cannon rebuild.
« Reply #425 on: April 17, 2017, 03:20:08 PM »
I got a Vintage Death Star Cannon today in the mail. It has been painted by the previous owner, but he did a pretty neat job. I dont need to undo it. I've never had one of these, I thought it would be way underscaled, but its pretty close, it's huge. The details are pretty nice and accurate especially for being 40 years old. I wouldnt expect much more from Hasbro today. However I will give it my own special touch.
First I will chop off the seat, replacing it with 1/18 car seats. The original prop had two small seats, side by side on the right facing the cannon.
Second I will grind off some of the original detail, and add my own greebles. Mostly the pipes and tubes.
Then putty the screw holes, and finally paint it. So stay tuned, after I mock things up, this should be done rather quickly.

The Imperial Shipyard dio looks awesome.
I wanted to make something similar for the small Revell Star Destroyer but i never got around to it.

I'm looking forward to see the reworked Death Star Cannon.

Alright. Its been a while since I've posted anything. However I have been lurking on a daily basis, and have been enjoying everyone's awesome work.
So I finally got around to building the Bandai 1/12 General Grevious. Its a very intricate kit. It has a lot of small parts that break easily. Actually in the instructions it literally says do not break, well I saw that after I broke it. But i fixed it good as new.  This kit was kind of a pain in the neck to build, but its pretty freggin awesome though. His gits are cast in brown plastic, so i painted that using a combination flesh and red paint mixtures. Of course you cant even see it hardly, so kind of a waste of time really. Some of the parts fall off, so I will just glue them down. However first I will break it down a little so I can weather it.

There are a few different options. Mainly the arms. You have the option of either the two arm or four arm configuration. Also he comes with an articulated plastic cape, I personally do not like articulated capes.

So I'm going to break it down a little, wash it, and weather him soon.

Thanks Ron!  Pretty much the entire neck assembly needs to be glued down, along with other various parts. Its a good kit, but it is very fragile.
