I haven't worked on any projects lately. I've been out of practice. So I figured I would do a quick excersize project. It's a TIE Interceptor, with Imperial airfield base.
I've been thinking about doing a TIE fighter Imperial air base diorama for a while, but it wasn't until I saw Talonreap's landing pad that I finally got off my duff and built it.
The base is just 4 bases from the Bandai 1/12 figure kits, fitted and glued together. Then I just painted it matte black, even though it's black already, I wanted to give it a matte sheen. Then i added a white triangle decal from a model aircraft decal sheet, then placed an imperial decal from the AT-ST kit over that. In my imagination the triangle signifies the TIE INTERCEPTOR landing area.
I made the light post spire thing out of model kit parts. A 1/35 20mm cannon, and some other various parts. The laders are from a 1/72 airfield kit, I just glued them together then on to a 1/72 tank deck, to make what I call a maintenance sled. I figured it was a repulsorlift creeper like thing with a ladder system to perform maintenance duties. I have fun inventing my own Star Wars tech. Lol. The figures are Micro Machines TIE pilots and officer with some modifications.
