Tonight's Friday Night Figure is.... Repulsorlift Captain, Derek Vateel. Captain Vateel is in command of a repulsorlift company consisting of 22 repulsorlift fighting vehicles, and 76 Stormtroopers. Vateel is revered by his men, they share a mutual respect for one another. His men would follow him in the depths of hell, as he leads from in front, instead of from behind.

This figure is an AT-ST driver with a snowtrooper chestplate. I like building these simple generic characters they are subtle but unlike anything Hasbro makes. They make cool support characters without stealing the show.

Thanks Ron.
I plan on building a dio of an assault battalion outpost on Yavin IV. So I'm trying to make my officers and stormtroopers somewhat different from one another. Its a tricky task because they are supposed to all look the same. Also I'm coming up with a comprehensive ranking system using blue and red squares, it won't be exactly canon but it makes sense to the viewer. As I build more and you see them all together you'll see what I'm saying.

Thanks Tamer again for the FP spot. I built this stormtrooper I was talking about last week with the SL11 head on TBS body I think it looks a lot better. First  pic is the factory TBS the bottom is with the SL11 head. I think the head would look even better on the 2005 SL25 body. Personally I think the SL25 is the best looking stormtrooper they made.

Thanks clonesnipe' its a good way to add subtle variety to the imperial officers. With the stormy I would like to have a squad with the SL11 head but it would be expensive someone on EBay had some resin castings of it but they sold out. If they could make more I'd appreciate it.

Ask our very own Clonehead here in the Yards. He makes casts of just about every head and helmet there is.

Tonight's Friday Night Figure is... Imperial Marine, NCO. He's not the most exciting figure but I think its cool. He's a TAC "clean" sandtrooper with an SL11 head. The cool thing is I added magnets so you can change backpacks remove the thermal detonator and his binoculars without the unsightly holes. I still need to clean up and paint his back but it will look good with or without the backpack. Also I'm developing his weapon based on the MP40 just need to make it "star wars-y". Notice the sandtrooper ammo pouches were reproduction WW2 German MP40 mag pouches so it makes sense to use a modified MP40. I plan on customizing different squad members this way wit different equipment and weapons.

This is nice. I'm not usually one to comment on stormies but the SL11 head is so much better then most others makes it looks absolutely great. I gues its because the SL11 looks wider and gives it a fatter look to it and the head/eyes area is a bit more correct.

Most Stormie figures use the same size head as a non-masked figure which actually means they are smaller then the correct proportion, a bucket is supposed to be just slightly bigger ... anyways I'm just rambling.. awesome work!

Thanks Rez. I 110% agree. The helmet is supposed to be big. The SL11 head looks more like the ANH/ESB helmet as opposed to the sleeker ROTJ bucket that the other figure helmets are trying to mimic. Personally I think the ESB helmet is the best, but I also think everything ESB is the best. So maybe I'm biased.

Really enjoyed the tank. That flashlight turret cover is just a great idea.

Thanks Tamer. I pretty much had 3 options laminate styrene sheets,(which is very impractical) PVC pipe or flashlight. The flashlight head was cheaper and easier. But yeah I've got tonnes of ideas for scratch builds. I figured out the recipe for the imperial probe droid's pod. So I might build that sometime. I will attempt to recreate some ships like the Tantive IV and Rebel medium transport. Building figures was a nice change of pace, I never knew people did that until I joined the yards.
