Hi All

They look great Ron. Off to share in all the right places.

Cheers Shawn, I just need to add the decals and then weather them and put them on the base.

Hi All,

The figures are 90% done, I gave them a wash of Brown sand and got into the all the nooks and crannies and then gave the armour on the troopers and the metal on the probe droid a very light wash of the brown sand.

Next will be the final weathering using pastels.

Ron

Hi All,

The figures are 95% done. To do this part of the weathering I used pastel chalks I first did a 50/50 mix of Brown/Light Yellow and then lightly went over the figures and weathered where sand and dust would get into and clings to.

Once I did the Brown/Light Yellow weathering I then did the final weathering using a 70/30 mix of Light Light Yellow/Brown and went over the last lot of weathering and then I gave them a spray varnish.

I let the matt varnish dry for 10 minutes then I used a clear gloss on the troopers lenses and the Probe droids eye.

Next will be the sand mix and the adding to the base and then adding the figures and the last piece of weathering.

Hi All,

The figures have been based and the sand as been laid and for the size of the base here is how and what I used to make the sand.

Pic 1 - 3 Tablespoons of Plaster of Paris.
Pic 2 - 5 Tablespoons of fine sand.
Pic 3 - Mix the both together before adding water.
Pic 4 - Add water and mix until you have a type of pancake consistency.

Pic 5 - Add a Teaspoon of Brown Sand(I use Vallejo Brown Sand).
Pic 6 - Mix the paint with the plaster and sand so it all mixes together.
Pic 7 - Use a sharp knife and score the base, this will help the mix adhere better.
pic 8 - Spread the mix over the base and then choose how you want the sand to look. I went for a more smoother look for this dio. Let the mix start to dry which won't take long and then add foot prints by wetting the feet then lightly press them in the mix.

Pic 9 & 10 are the figures on the base and as you can see by adding a small amount of paint it comes up looking like real sand. If it doesn't you can give it light washes until you like the look of it.

Next I will paint the edges and the add a little more weathering then I'll get my usual outdoor pics.

Hi All,

The dio is now completed and I will get my usual pics as soon as I can.

The sand/plaster/paint mix was just a little to light so I did the following.

Pic 1 - I gave the base two light washes of Vallejo Brown Sand.
Pic 2 - I then gave it a wash of Vallejo Iraqui Sand and then once dry brushed it with pale sand and did the same to the rod holding up the Probe Droid as this helps blend it in and looks like it's floating.
Pic 3 & 4 - Is the final dio and I added jus a little extra weathering and I then sealed it again with matt spray.

I will get my usual pics as soon as I can.
