Love that you're doing this the same way the 1/2 Falcon from Star Wars was done.  This is an impressive and ambitious project.  You should just build the whole thing though  ;D

Cool deal. I figured you had a plan. I know Dayton Allen has some pretty rigorous diagrams of the Falcon and know for sure he would get you what you need.

Hi All,

I have put the Falcon on the go slow table as I need to complete a few diorama's/figures before a show that is just under six weeks away.

I started do a 1/12 mythos Vader which is from Bandai and I cut the cape out of black material it's not the greatest cut but seeing that I needed to damage the cape with cuts and tears it suited the figure.

I used thin wire to make the edges of the cape fold better,  I still need to fill in joints and add more damage to Vader and the cape and robe and then paint and weather him and make the base.

That Vader is going to be awesome. Great job on the cape, better than the plastic articulated cape.  Can't wait to see if finished.

Hi All,

Mythos Vader is done and as always I will get outdoor pics soon.

Vader - was painted and weathered using Vallejo paints.

Base - is from the Vader kit and I used balsa wood for the border. I used a piece of scrap high density foam and ripped it apart with my fingers then used a piece of sandstone and pushed it lightly into the foam to give it a stone look to it.

The lava is Woodland Scenic Water Effects and added some to the base and then spread it out and before it dried I got an old brush and dapped it around the Water Effects to give it a more natural look to it.

Once dry the I painted the lava as follows.

1 - painted the lava white and let dry, usually two - three coats will do.
2 - drybrush over the white with bright yellow.
3 - drybrush over the yellow with bright orange.
4 - drybrush then with bright red.
5 - drybrush then with dark brown.
6 - drybrush then with matt black then leave it for an hour to completely dry.
7 - Once dry mix a 50/50 mix of bright yellow and bright orange and then give the lava a wash of the 50/50 mix and then leave to dry for 20 minutes.
8 - last brush Woodland Scenics Water over the lava to give it a more gloss/glowing look.

Thanks Shawn and this was pretty easy to do the base was the longest part as I redid the lava 3 times till I liked it.

Vader turned out awesome! The burnt effects on the cape are marvelous! Very convincing without being gaudy.
