Hi All,

When I saw Brandon Flores's 6" Hover Tank I knew I had to make something for my Hover Tank Pilot which will be painted to a Hover Tank Commander.

I couldn't make the full hover tank due to room so I decided to make the Hover Tank's Cupola section. The lower base section was done using foam board and then I used plastic card to cover the base. The cupola and the other pieces were made using plastic card, military model parts, lego piece and a battery.

Hi All,

The cupola is no built and I added a antenna using parts from the Bandai Sandtrooper kit. I decided that it needed a weapon for the Commander so I made one using a DLT-19 and cut the butt off. I added ammo barrels using again parts from the Sandtrooper kit and the bracket/swivel is from the Bandai snow speeder kit and is able to rotate and move up and down and also tilt.

Hi All,

On the final stages of finishing this little project, I repainted the Hover pilot to the Commanders markings and I just need to weathering him up. I filled in the joints connectors to the knee joints with putty but before I did that I added some watch oil first so when the putty dries the joints can still move.

Great job on the Escape pod! That first one you did inspired me to do a lot of scratch building, as does this one. The hovertank project is really rad! I like the segmented tank idea. Saving space is a big deal. The trooper is really looking great indeed. The watch oil technique is smart!

Yeah JD, thanks heaps mate and yeah space is a big factor for sure but doing segmented sections of vehicles is a great way to go.

Hi All,

The cupola section and commander are now done, I sprayed the cupola with Tamiya's JLN Grey and then gave it three light washes of watered down black and once dry I dry brushed silver and gun metal to show the wear and tear.

I then painted the borders black and then gave the cupola and commander a weathering using pastel chalks to finish them off.

Wow, what a great idea and excellent execution. I could so seeing you doing this for an AT-AT Driver, Snowtrooper, or AT-ST Driver in this scale or even 12 inches for that matter. I think it looks fantastic.

Off to share.

Thanks heaps Shawn and I totally agree and I have been trying to get my hands on a BS 6" AT-AT to do a dio with. I am also looking at doing a AT-ST pilot in a similar type of partial dio as this.
