These last two Hoth dioramas are excellent. I love the Wampa attack. The way you posed the recoiling/falling Wampa looks great. I also really like the darker face coverings for the snow troopers, looks excellent. Brilliant job on both those.

Thanks heaps bud and yeah the mini's are great to convert as they are a medium plastic so it's easy to cut and glue. Glad you like the Snowtroopers coverings as I did give them a very white/grey look to them at first and being at this scale it just didn't look right.

Hi All,

Sandtrooper Squad Leader - 1:12 scale.

Recipe.

Trooper - is from Bandai and is built straight out of the box and he's joints were covered using a black stocking and he was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel Chalks.  The RT-97c heavy blaster rifle is made up from a Hasbro rifle with the barrel cut and shortened and the parts from a Bandai Sandtrooper back pack and the scope is from the Bandai SE-14r light repeating blaster.

Base - is from the SW Legion Occupier tank and the rock was done using a large rubber mould from Woodland Scenics and was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints.  The sand is a mix of sand and spakfilla and once dry was given a few washes of Vallejo's Iraqui and the smaller stones are kitty litter which were applied while the sand mix was drying and were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints.

The small tufts of grass are from Army Painter and were given a few drybrushes of Vallejo's Beige Brown to give them a more dryer look to them.

I agree with FialaFerbrugg: The paintjob alone is excellent (as always), the weathering makes this Sandtrooper remarkibly outstanding! Admit it, Ron, you stole that base right from Tunisia!
Tamer is right, you ARE a wizard...

This is one more treasure made by you to add to your collection nobody could redo or replace.

Much respect, Mr hemble! Now, I go eat my vegetarian Schnitzel...

Yepper, trying to decide if its more Merlin or Gandalf, but wow.

Off to share this latest one. I know the Sandtrooper is your favorite character right as I recall?

Nice job on this figure, Ron. The rock mold worked well for you. The paint applications are really amazing and look very natural and realistic. Thank you for sharing your recipes for the base elements as well. It is always very instructive.

Hi All,

Sandtrooper Grunt - 1:12 scale. This figure was done to go with the Sandtrooper Squad Leader I did the other day and there is a pic at the end with the two.

Recipe.

Trooper - is from Bandai and is built straight out of the box and he's joints were covered using a black stocking and I drilled out the holes in the DLT-19 muzzle and he was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel Chalks.

I knew you were up to something when I saw you’re online! I agree with Starchaser: thanks for sharing how you make your masterpieces in full detail! These rock moulds from Woodland Sceenics work very well! Do you cast the rocks in plaster?
I really miss Wizards of the Coast...their miniatures should be in scale with the SW Legion figures. Now, I know WOTC just changed their name into Wizard at the Coast of Queensland  0///
Awesome project, Ron!
