Anoter winner Ron. Looks good on the front page.

Just so realistic. I would watch shows of the dios you make.

That's brilliant, Ron! I love all the "action" you captured in the diorama. Great mix of sources. Really fun to look at, nevermind the quality of the build and painting.

Wow, Ron - another cool diorama! You did an awesome paint job on all the minis! I really like how you made the TIE Fighter wings look. Reminds me a little of a rescue mission like Black Hawk Down.
It's funny how all the major battles in the OT and ST take place in either deserts or  forests. That's part of the reason why I enjoyed the battle over and in Coruscant in ROTS so much, after the battle in the fields of Naboo and the battle on Geonosis.
So cool that those vehicle kits are available. I'm off to take a look at what Fantasy Flight Games have to offer.
Thanks for sharing your cool scenery with us!

Thanks heaps Philipp and the wings was one of the reasons I picked up the kits as they a very different. I love building SW dio's in the desert or rocky desert as it really gives the figures and dio's a real gritty feel to them.

Thanks so much Shawn and yeah I'm so surprised that Disney/Lucas haven't made a series or movie of the Empire's side of things.

Thanks heaps Jeff and doing dio's at this scale is awesome as I can make them bigger without taking up to much space.

This is some really great work. Reminds me of Black Hawk Down but with Stormtroopers.  ()rr

Hi All,

Ditched-Battle of Scarif, 28mm.

Recipe.

Pilot and Fighter - the pilot is from Skullforge Designs and the Tie Fighter is from DarkFire Designs and once the Tie was put together it and the pilot were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints.
Base - is high density foam cut to shape and I then cut sections away to fit the wing and cockpit.

I first added the sand using a mix of spakfilla and washed river sand and the inserted the Tie into place and the smoke was done using a piece of wire and then gluing cotton wool to it and lightly spraying it with black and grey spray cans.

Once the sand mix was dry I painted using Vallejo's Iraqi Sand, the palm trees are from Ebay and the palm looking plants are fish tank plants and these were painted and the ferns a from MIG which were given a light dark wash. The light green bushes are from Woodland Scenics and the grass tufts are from Army Painter.

The water was done by using watered down spakfilla and spreading it out and while it was drying I used the bottom of a rea spoon which was covered lightly with water and lightly flicked it to make the waves.

Once the spafilla was dry I then painted it using Vallejo's Dark Blue and once dry I mixed a two part clear resin and added light blue and gave the water three layers. Once the resin was dry I them dry brushed the waves white and the used Woodland Scenics Water Effects and covered the waves with it and once clear it gives the waves a nice effect.

I really like the smoke column. The TIE looks really good "ditched" and I agree with Shawn about the water effects. It had to be a challenge figuring out how the water would break and eddy around the downed TIE. The plant life is a great combination of different sourced material. Nice job!

Thanks so much Jeff and I looked at other diorama's of downed planes to get an idea of how it should look.

I like your miniature dioramas as well! Those palm trees come in nice and cheap. When I got some of those I had the same thought scale-wise. But I've only used them as fern for Endor in 1/18 scale so far. The water looks nicely painted, indeed! Did you work with clear resin this time at all or is it all acrylic paint?

Thanks for sharing how you turn a beach paradise into a salty & sandy hell of warfare.

Hey DM,

Thanks so much mate and yeah the palm trees are cheap and look great painted and I've also used the as ferns as they are perfect for them.

The water was sculpted with spakilla then I painted it using acrylics then used a clear two part resing and covered it with that.
