Trying to give a more natural texture to differents supports I use. See tomorow how "it works".
Second pix, try painting job on huttese glyphs. Finally, this arch doesn't seems really good to me, I've got another idea and ordered more foam. I will try this week-end. Only internal pillars made of foamcore, I want to cut them with the shape of the curve, and glue with foam. I also try huttese glyph on an 3mm foam band, for a cleaner result.

Too bad I don't have parts of Jabba newer vintage playset as a "physical" reference.

Jabba's arch with foam face is no good using 5mm foam. If I use thickest foam, strain due to tension on main frame occurs. Never mind, go back with other material.

I also made some plasters casts.
Ewok's heads will be fine next to the BBQ behind Jabba  ;D ;D

Attempt to create a mold (for 10 years, I lost my hand) for part of the cantina of Nevarro, and use of the mold.  it lacks a bit of thickness.

The intended use is for the rear parts of the palace corridors.

Mix of plaster and paint give an acceptable result for texturing the walls. Lighter paint needed.

I also need to improve my painting techniques, especially accentuating reliefs and dirt.

As planned, start a new arch, with a different front curve (but this time, references are token, for later re-use, needed for stands)
Arch is 2 cm higher, now it fit with other main walls.

Main cutting of main room's entrance done.

Stands in front of Jabba in progress.
Not movie accurate, but I need to play with available space and offer a maximum of point of view inside the palace via those stands.
Not finished of course. I tried to use tile joint paste, the result is not conclusive. I think that the layer of plaster should be enough to hide the few defects in the fittings.
A slight shift in positioning means that the vault covers part of the corner of the passage to the intermediate room.

I like the Ewoks heads :) This is a massive project, but it is looking really good so far. Thanks for sharing the process, your learning is ours too.

I use plaster instead of resin only because I have a plaster bag opened :) No need to buy resin at this time (but I think it will be better for the Nevarro part mold, I broke 3 plaster casts at use).

Feel free to give me advice if you think it's necessary. I've rusted a lot with all these years without practice.

Drawing floorplan of the last main scene has started  ;D

The elevator hole is visible (first shot). Ref in the SW Technical Journal, behind the curtain when Solo get out of the carbonite. I dont know yet how I will play with this, but I remember I didn't do it in the 2013 version and I regretted it.

So it's time to take my old home made Jarjar Carbonite out of its box  :P
(Starchaser, maybe it's my only not so bad custom)

I haven't been able to move forward as much as I would have liked , it's hard to concentrate with noisy neighbors who have no respect for their surroundings. It's a shame to bury yourself in the bush only to end up being more bored than in the city.

Edit : trying to make shots in a good orientation, fail :(

A few work on the room between carbonite and main room. 2 arches added on the walls.
I had made a mistake in the order in which the panels were pasted. Had to improvise to get a result that wasn't too bad.

That's looking really good. Love the carbonite Jar Jar ;D (Its better than 'not so bad'.) Using the technical journal is a good idea, those provide excellent details like the elevator void. You are doing outstanding work.
